Intro - On Business - On New York - On Sleeping On The Subway |
|
On Sleeping On The Subway Me: Do you sleep anywhere else? Any other good places to crash? Billy: Sometimes I ride the train. Sometimes I sleep on the train. Me: How easy is it to sleep on the train? Billy: It’s easy. Just go to sleep! Me: Do the police bother you? Do they ticket you for sleeping on the train? Billy: If you lay down, yeah. Me: So you have to sleep sitting up? Billy: Yep. Sometimes I don’t care, I lay down anyway. Me: Are any trains better than others to sleep on? Billy: Only reason that one line’s much better than others is because it goes the farthest. That’d be the A line. It’s better than the others because you get more rest. That A line is the longest in New York. Oh yeah, they also got some nice long benches to lie on. [I looked it up later and found out that, indeed, the A train travels more miles than any other subway line.] Me: Can you sleep in subway stations? Billy: No, no, no-- the benches in the stations ain’t no good. When I do stay in stations I sleep on the floor. |
